Welcome to Aki Salt Room

We are happy to bring Aki Salt Room to Erie, PA!  We look forward to meeting you.

Your Salt Room Visit -

Aki Salt Room has walls and ceiling made of hand cut, artistically stacked, Himalayan salt bricks.  The floor is covered with coarse Himalayan salt. The entry area floor is Himalayan salt tiles so that wheelchairs can easily access the room.

Shoes are not allowed in the salt room so you will be provided with a brand new pair of socks to wear into the room.  You can choose to take the socks home with you or you may deposit them in our used sock basket. Used socks will be cleaned and donated to local homeless shelters or the VA.

The salt room is kept at 68 degrees, consistent with an actual salt cave, so light blankets are provided for your comfort.

What Do I Do When I'm in the Salt Room?

During your 45 minute session in the salt room, you simply sit quitely and breathe in the salt air.  At each of the 4 chairs in the room there is a blanket, 2 balls of himalayan salt you can use to help yourself relax and even a list of 12 things you can do to help yourself relax. There have been numerous studies to show that quieting the mind can be very beneficial to our overall health. It is for that reason we recommend that you enjoy this as quiet time instead of reading or even having conversation.

A Zen proverb explains: "the quieter you become, the more you are able to hear."

How Frequently Should I Come to the Aki Salt Room?

Like so many other forms of complimentary medicine, a salt room should not be considered a quick fix for anything.  Instead, think of it as part of a healthy living choice and use it on a regular basis, whether that is a few time per week, weekly or monthly.
